What is the Embodiment Tradition?
The Embodiment Tradition is an experiential learning tradition that reveals the energetic signature of the 9 enneatypes, both in their fixated state and in their more expansive Essential state. This tradition illuminates a way to make contact with our Enneatype through feeling into our energetic system, and looking specifically at how that energy animates and informs our interiority and our outward expression. By becoming aware of where our energy is concentrating, blocked, stagnating, leaking, flowing, what direction it’s moving, and so on, we can become more aware of the quality of our own state of being and recognize how that state then drives some of the unconscious behaviors, thoughts, and feeling patterns that are associated with each Enneagram type.
Through experiential instruction, typing panels, discussion, and somatic and creative practices, students will learn how to ‘try on’ the energetic signature of all 9 types. By trying on all of the types you can experience – not imagine, but truly experience – a taste of what it feels like to exist as that Enneatype. The patterns of thinking, feeling and doing make a lot more sense because you can get a taste of what it is like to be in a fixated energetic pattern and to move from that place. This experiential understanding gives way to an immense amount of compassion and a clearer orientation of the Enneagram that goes beyond lists of characterological traits.
