Thursdays in January from 6–7:30 p.m. ET
Virtual; all sessions will be recorded and shared with students.
What does it mean to mother? How does mothering – in all its forms – fundamentally shift who we are, and how do we re-anchor ourselves during and after this immense transformation?
In this four-week virtual series, we will explore the profound threshold of matrescence: the time of mother-becoming. Through the Enneagram, breathwork, nervous-system awareness, reflective writing, and somatic practices, we’ll make space to map our unique experiences of matrescence with curiosity and compassion. Together, we will explore the patterns, stories, and inner resources that arise in motherhood, returning to the body as a source of grounding, wisdom, and creativity equipped to meet the profound mystery on the journey ahead.

Ali McGhee, PhD, is the director of the Enneagram School of Awakening and the author of The Embodied Enneagram: A Creative and Somatic Journey and The Creative Enneagram Workbook: Embodied Enneagram Practices for Your Creative Soul. Born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, she returned to Appalachia after completing her PhD in English literature in 2012 at the University of Rochester.
She now teaches the Enneagram to therapists, coaches, creatives, clergy, and anyone else curious about how this transformational tool can lead to greater compassion for themselves and the world. She also offers 1-on-1 and couples Enneagram coaching and leads team and workplace training based in the dynamic Embodiment Tradition.
Ali believes in the power of the Enneagram to free us from old patterns and help align us with our highest and most authentic selves. With over two decades of teaching experience, she is committed to honoring the inherent mystery of this wisdom system, and weaving it together with other through-lines, including creativity and artistic expression that allows the voice of the soul to sing. Her teachers include Dr. Lissa Friedman and Tammy Hendrix (founders of the Enneagram School of Awakening and the Embodiment Tradition), Russ Hudson, Tom Hirons, Mary Ellen Lough, Becky Beyer (Blood and Spicebush), and Kearsley Tate Schweller (Kearsley’s Kitchen).
A lifelong dreamer and writer, she is often in pursuit of esoteric and magical knowledge. She is happiest roaming the Appalachian forests, snuggling up to watch a horror movie, or getting lost in a book. She lives with her husband, artist Justin Noah Wells, their wildling daughter, and a random assortment of barely domesticated animals in Madison County.
Tiffany Narron, MA, is a Writer, Full Spectrum Doula, and Women’s Therapeutic Coach living in the mountains of North Carolina. She honors the roots of nature-based systems of wellness and reciprocity, of ceremony and story, and their deep influences in her life and work and is committed to centering them to co-create communities of presence and care.
Writing is one of her love languages. She feels her writing allows the everyday flow of living to fuse with the symbology, ritual, folklore, and deep reverence found in nature. The dreamlike prose that emerges holds yearnings of the spirit and prayers that capture the delicate details of this living, interweaving them into self and our shared collective journey.
Tiffany works with Narrative Medicine (a form of therapeutic storytelling) and Trauma-Informed Somatic Integration to create a container for vulnerable witnessing, self awareness, nervous system regulation, and integration. Together, we create space to safely feel into what’s coming up in the mind and body, practicing nervous system regulation and exploring the body’s felt sense of safety using somatic experiencing and weaving writing into our processing as a way to dream and connect outside the rational, hypervigilant mind.
As a Full Spectrum Doula, she is passionate about nurturing birthing person’s and families through their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with intentional communication, compassion, evidence-based information to guide their journey in making autonomous decisions around their sacred experience as it unfolds, physical support through pregnancy, in the birthing space and postpartum, and with advocacy around her client’s birth preferences and desires.
Tiffany prefers to be outside in relationship with the “greater than human” world as eco-psychologist Mary Jayne Rust says. She believes that practicing body-centered communication in alignment with one’s innate wisdom is vital to autonomous decision-making and our personal and collective health. The greater than human world guides us and holds us as the generative place to return, and feel our bodies fully held.
