Let’s feel into the basic energies of the nine types.
There are many ways to group the nine types, but the following configuration relate to the energetics most clearly. The core types 3, 6, and 9 have mutable or adapting energy. The externalizing types 2, 7, and 8 have outward moving energy. The internalizing types 1, 4, and 5 have inward moving energy.
With these categories of energies as a reference, lets explore the centers: gut, heart, and head.
The gut points
Type 9 sits in the middle and is the adapting energy of the gut center. People with the type 9 avoid anger and all intensity. These people manage intensity by trying to harmonize, or neutralize situations and others. Their expression can feel dull, rooted, slow-moving, and easygoing. Their eyes don’t seem to focus well.
Type 1 is the inward moving energy of the gut center. People with this type feel the energy of anger and contain it by tightening their bodies. Their expression seems tight and controlled, and their bodies feel stiff.
Type 8 is the outward moving energy of the gut center. People with type 8 feel the intensity of life. They easily feel the energy of anger and express it freely. Their energy feels alive, intense, dynamic, and at times aggressive. Their bodies are expressive and energetically big – sometimes actually big.
The heart points
Type 3 sits in the middle and is the adaptive heart type. People with this type avoid sensitive emotions and change their presentation to please their audience.
Type 4 is the inward-moving heart type. People with this type can be a magnet for all sad emotions, theirs and everyone else’s.
Type 2 is the outward moving heart type. These people project their emotions onto others. Their emotional expression moves toward others.
The head points
Type 6 sits in the middle and is the adaptive head type. They try to avoid fear by thinking about what might be dangerous and making plans for how to deal with the future.
Type 5 is the inward moving head type. People with this type find the world overwhelming and frightening, and they hide inside their minds.
Type 7 is the outward moving head type. These people project their fear outward as excitement and enthusiasm, and try to seduce others to join them in their adventures.
In this post, we dive deeper into the energetic movement – and start feeling it in our own bodies – to get a better sense of it.
